Planning and Structure – Episkopi Valley Retreat

The project includes only four private villas, designed to integrate into the natural landscape of the Ezousa Valley in the village of Episkopi. The architectural concept combines elements of traditional Cypriot architecture with modern lines, wide openings, and large verandas that make the most of the natural light and the panoramic valley and mountain views.

The homes are built using an advanced steel-frame construction method. This method allows for a high level of precision throughout the construction process, long-term structural stability, and strong durability in the environmental conditions of the area. The steel structure is designed to meet local engineering requirements and to suit the ground conditions and geology of this mountainous region.

This construction method offers several significant advantages. First, it allows for more effective thermal insulation through the integration of advanced insulation layers within the wall envelope. This contributes to high energy efficiency and helps maintain a stable indoor temperature throughout the year. In addition, the structure is lighter than traditional full concrete construction, which allows it to respond better to natural ground movement and to the geological characteristics of the area.

The building envelope combines natural materials and high-quality finishes while maintaining harmony with the surrounding landscape. The façades integrate natural stone alongside modern elements, and the large openings allow natural light to enter while creating a direct connection between the interior spaces and the garden and verandas..

All villas are designed with open-plan living spaces, a central kitchen and dining area, and direct access to the outdoor areas. Each unit includes a private garden, a wide covered veranda, and outdoor areas suitable for entertaining and for extended time spent in the open air.
